Doug was born in the heart of Pennsylvania Elk Country in St Marys. At a very young age he moved to Coudersport and attended Coudersport Area Schools from kindergarten through high school excelling in sports and concert band. During this time Doug also developed a passion for the outdoors through immediate family and friends.

Doug then attended Engineering School at Pitt-Bradford and Gannon University. A 38 year career in manufacturing followed sending Doug all over the USA and Europe in various Engineering, Operations, and Senior Operations roles. Of particular note he spent over 5 years working at Pennsylvania  House Furniture Company which made extremely high end museum quality solid wood furniture out of cherry, walnut, oak, mahogany, and maple. Doug's love of woodworking, wood working machines, and wood finishing started here and continues on today in his wood product game call line. These roles provided the opportunity to experience great and interesting places while meeting some truly great people along the way.

As they say, there is no place like home. Doug made the decision to retire early and move back home to spend more time with family and friends. Shortly after he met and married Lorrie Hayes and his life got even better! 

Hunting has always been Doug’s passion, even sacrificing sports that he loved in order to spend more time in the woods. Growing up he hunted everything he could. Doug’s Dad was a diehard upland bird hunter, so bird dogs and an occasional beagle mix accompanied them often. His father even called Doug’s first spring gobbler with a box call that sounded so bad Doug wanted to throw it away, but it sure worked that time and many others. This experience was one of many lessons learned from time in the field. It’s more important to make a sound that a turkey likes as opposed to what callers like to hear.

This passion for the outdoors has driven Doug for 50 years as a hunter and a guide in well over a dozen states.  

In addition to countless hours spent in the turkey woods, Doug has put alot of time on the competition turkey calling circuit on the local, state and national levels. In true American Fashion Doug can say you win some and lose some . . . BUT . . You always learn something.

Now that Doug is retired, he is blessed to be able to combine his lifelong passion for the outdoors with a lifetime of experience in engineering and manufacturing. This professional experience is helping to create some of the most reliable, well-made and easy to use calls on the market.

There are no gimmicks in my call line. All are proven designs that I, myself, hunt with. They can be used by both young and experienced hunters. I am staying away from some designs on the market as I struggle with them and I don't want you to. I am a small, limited volume shop that builds, designs, hand tunes, and sources products all to help make you a better hunter.” – Doug Lang
